Come and study at the ENSICAEN

ENSICAEN is a public institution which is accredited to issue Engineering Diplomas (equivalent of a Master of Science – MSc) and is fully recognised by the National Engineering Accreditation Commission s (CTI) .

The engineering programme provided by ENSICAEN lasts for three years and is organised as follows :

International students who want to enrol in ENSICAEN and study engineering can:
– enrol as a full-time student through the CCINP enrolment programme;
– or come in the frame of a cooperation agreement with their home university, if they are a partner to ENSICAEN. In this case, students can come for an exchange or stay longer and obtain a double degree.

You’ll feel right at home at ENSICAEN !

ENSICAEN places a high priority on the quality of the welcome services provided to international students. That’s why, as soon as they arrive, they can count on the engineering students of the International Club and ENSICAEN’s own administrative departments to support them through the various administrative and logistical steps they need to take and help them make the most of the cultural and social events organised throughout the year.

Bienvenue en France : ENSICAEN is renowned and recognised for how well we host international students

Awarded for 4 years by Campus France to certify the quality of the international student reception, this national label rewards everything that ENSICAEN and its partners have done to give international students the best possible access, reception, and support throughout their stay with us.

Come for an exchange

International students who want to come to ENSICAEN for an exchange can spend one or several semesters here, thanks to a cooperation agreement between ENSICAEN and their home university. This format will not lead to the graduation of the ENSICAEN diploma, but the courses taken and the ECTS credits acquired will be recognised as part of the diploma delivered in their home university.

For international students who want to take classes in English, ENSICAEN has implemented, in all its scientific departments, international programmes during the third year of the degree (equivalent to the second year of a Master). Outside of the third year of the degree, foreign exchange students are welcomed, but classes in English are not guaranteed.

Exchanges are generally organised in the autumn semester (September-February). There are very few classes in the spring semester (February-April), as students are often undertaking work placements in France or abroad at this time of the year. It is nevertheless possible for international students to come and take a placement in one of ENSICAEN laboratories during this period (Master Thesis, for example).

For any exchange at ENSICAEN, students must be nominated by the international relations office of their home university before they begin the application process.

Nominations :
– Until 15/05 for exchanges in the autumn semester (recommended),
– Until 15/10 for the spring semester.

Once nominated by their home university, ENSICAEN will send the student the procedure to submit their application (see welcome booklet for exchange and double degree students).

Applications:
– Until 01/07 for exchanges in the autumn semester (recommended),
– Until 01/12 for the spring semester.

Recommended level in English: B1
Recommended level in French: A2

Get a double degree

ENSICAEN has implemented double degree programmes with several partner universities. International students from these universities can come at ENSICAEN and in the end of the curriculum, graduate with both the ENSICAEN diploma and the diploma from their home university. In the frame of the double degree, international students must attend all of the classes taught in the program followed.

The duration of the mobility at ENSICAEN will depend on the terms of each agreement. In general, the student will complete three semesters at ENSICAEN, followed by a six-month end-of-study project while working at a company. Students are however advised to ask their home university how the double degree will be organised as part of their curriculum.

Study at ENSICAEN after the CCINP

To enrol in a three-year course and obtain an engineering diploma from ENSICAEN in Computer science, Physical engineering and Embedded systems, or Materials and Chemistry, international applicants must confirm their wish to study at ENSICAEN directly on the shared INP website with a “definitive yes”.

The study management and student life teams will then send applicants the instructions on how to enrol, and what they need to do to obtain CROUS housing. For more information, please contact admission@ensicaen.fr

Useful information

The ENSICAEN has developed a welcome policy for international students of the highest quality, based on the support from the following departments:

Student accommodation

ENSICAEN has signed an agreement with the “Crous Normandie” student accommodation service.

Thanks to this agreement, a few rooms are reserved for international students at the Côte de Nacre student housing, located just a two-minute walk from ENSICAEN. A certain number of rooms are available, up to the quota agreed with the CROUS.

French lessons

The Office of Languages and Humanities provides French as a Foreign Language (FLE) classes for international students. Throughout the school year, all international students follow two hours of FLE classes per week (56 hours in the first year and 46 hours in the second year).

For students coming for an exchange or as part of a double degree, an intensive FLE course is also organised at the end of August.

Students enrolled to graduate with the ENSICAEN diploma (students enrolled via the CCINP or those participating in a double degree programme) must have achieved a B2 level of French to receive their diploma.

International club

Every year, students at ENSICAEN form an International Club which gives help to international students when they arrive at the school and then, all the school year long. This includes a welcome and accommodation support, events organisation, mentoring, and more.

Facebook Club International
Facebook Bureau des élèves

Erasmus Fun

ENSICAEN works with Erasmus Fun , which organises trips and visits for international students. International students are invited to take part in trips funded by the International Relations office, such as a day out to Mont-Saint-Michel.
